Job Description
The University of Tübingen was founded in 1477 and is one of Germany’s eleven universities of excellence. Topic: “Longer Acenes: Synthesis, Interface Formation and Thin Film Stability”
The Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry (apl. Prof. Heiko Peisert) is looking for a highly motivated PhD student (m/f/d) with expertise in physical chemistry or physics. The aim of the project is a systematic understanding of the growth, geometric and electronic structure of the longer acenes from individual molecules to application relevant film thicknesses. To counter the enhanced reactivity in films, new acene derivatives will be synthesized and studied. This project part is focused on the characterization of the acene/substrate interface and the growth of acenes in thin films. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with partner groups: Prof. Bettinger (Tübingen, Synthesis), Prof. Koller (Graz, Electronic Structure and Interfaces), Prof. Puschnig (Graz, Theory).
Experimental work focuses on scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) as well as on photoemission in the lab and at synchrotron radiation sources. We are offering excellent working conditions and facilities in an active multidisciplinary research environment.
